Hammondville Park is OPEN updated 07/11/2022

When & how can I register to play?

Registrations open in early January of each year and continue until the end of May. Trial games usually commence in March, so most teams are compiled in February. So for the best value it is important to register early to ensure you get a full season and have the best chance of being placed into a team.Registrations are done via the Play Football online registration portal here and all the details regarding registration can be found on our Registration Page.

What age group will I, or my child, play in?

Players play in the age group they turn that calendar year (1st January to 31st December). For example, if your child turns 7 during the year, they will play in the Under 7′s.

Moorebank Soccer Club has teams from Under 5’s and up. Players cannot play below their age group, but they can play in older teams above their age (up to 2 years for boys and 3 years for girls) with Club approval.

Can I play in the same team as my friends?

We try to keep all the younger children (and parents) happy, by placing the children in teams where they will know other children, however, this is not always possible.

Team sport is fantastic for children to meet new people, interact and develop new friendships. Here at MSC we grade all our players from under 8s and up.

Our preferred payment is via credit card when registering or by logging back into your Play Football profile.

What is provided by the club as part of my registration fees?

Our registration packages include a uniform kit (shorts, 2 x socks), training ball and all match fees (referee and venue costs), player related insurance, and affiliation fees associated with Southern Districts (SDSFA), Football NSW and Football Australia. The playing jerseys are owned by the club and are handed out each game by the coach/manager and collected at the end.

Who will coach and manage a team?

The club is run entirely on the backbone of volunteers and without the help of people like our Coaches and Managers, the Club simply does not function. Coaches and Managers are usually volunteers from the parent group of a team.
You will be contacted by your Coach or Manager at the beginning of the season to introduce themselves and let you know training times and answer any questions you may have.

It is important to reiterate that your Coach and Manager have voluntarily taken on these roles so the children can play and have fun, so it is only fair to treat them with the utmost courtesy and respect they deserve.

The Club arranges coaching accreditation courses, or arranges access to various community coaching courses.

Where are matches played throughout the season?

Home games are played at Hammondville Oval, Heathcote Road, Moorebank.

Away games can be played at any SDSFA grounds depending on who your opposition is, incorporating the Liverpool and Fairfield local government areas.

What is the start/end date of the season and do you play in holidays?

Southern Districts Soccer Football Association (SDSFA) will determine the season draw and dates.
Trial games will commence in March and the competition matches will commence in April and continue until mid to late August.

Occasional weekends like Easter weekend there will be no matches scheduled, but games will continue through school holidays during the regular season.

What days/times are matches scheduled?

Most games are scheduled for Saturday (to age 16) with the younger age groups generally scheduled in the mornings (but this may differ on occasion). Senior Men’s and Women’s matches are scheduled for Sunday, as well as Knockout games for teams in the Under 12-16 age groups.

You can find the weekly schedule on our Competitions page.  These fixtures may change at short notice based on venue availability.

What days/times is training scheduled?

All training sessions are held during a weekday evening at Hammonville Oval and will be determined by the Coach and their availability. This will be communicated to you by your team manager at the start of the season. Teams from Under 10 – Under 11 age group are strongly encouraged to train 2 nights per week, and teams from Under 12 – Under 16 age groups are expected to train 2 nights per week.

What do players need to wear during training and games?

Players must wear the Moorebank Soccer Club uniform to all games. For safety reasons, all players must also be wearing proper football boots with moulded studs and shin pads (under your socks). These can be purchased from local sports stores.

For training, players can wear any appropriate clothing along with football boots and shin pads.

Players are not permitted to play with glasses, and must wear ‘sports goggles’ where necessary.

What do I do if I/my child is sick, or cannot make it to training or a game?

We understand that sometimes sickness happens, or something comes up that prevents attendance at training or a game. In this instance, please inform your coach or manager as early as possible or well in advance for planned holidays.

What happens when it is wet weather?

The local Liverpool Council makes the decision as to whether grounds are playable or closed due to weather conditions. If it is raining and you are unsure whether training/games are cancelled you may check the Liverpool Council website, check the Moorebank Soccer Club Facebook page for updates or contact your team manager.

The Club may determine that the fields are unplayable for training or matches, even if Council has left fields status as ‘open’. If Council advice suggests that fields are closed, the Club has no option to alter that advice.

Yes, insurance is included in the registration price. If you are required to make a claim throughout the season, please escalate with your team manager who will make arrangements with Executive Committee.
